Spybean pre harvest dessecation productivity and quality of seeds

The obtaining of seed quality is dependent on biotic and abiotic factors that affect the pre-harvest. So, it is interesting that seeds after physiological maturity reduce their length of stay in the field, as this may reduce their quality. Thus, the early harvest, derived from the use of desiccants can be an alternative to the maintaining of seed quality. This study aimed to evaluate the efficiency of the use of desiccants and the effect of delayed harvest on the sanitary and physiological quality of soybean cultivars in Campos Novos - Santa Catarina. For this, field experiments were conducted in the 2011/12, 2012/13 and 2013/14 harvests. In the first two seasons, it was evaluated the effect of pre-harvest desiccation with the use of three desiccants, a witness, two stages of application and five soybean cultivars on yield, early harvest, physiological and sanitary quality of seeds. In the third season, in addition to the use of desiccants with the purpose of anticipating the harvest, it is included the delay of harvest of 15 days, in order to verify the response of different soybean cultivars on aspects of sanitary and physiological seed quality. In the 2011/12 harvest, there was the anticipation of the crop in six days with the use of desiccants paraquat and glufosinate ammonium applied in R7.1 stage. However in 2012/13 and 2013/14 harvests the use of desiccation didn´t anticipate the harvest, even in the absence of rain in the pre-harvest. The yield was not reduced with the desiccation in any of agricultural crops. In the 2011/12 harvest, the seeds derived from the harvest anticipation presented physiological quality higher than the witness, however, the sanitary quality was unchanged. The delay of the harvest increased the incidence of Phomopsis sp. and reduced the incidence of Cercospora Kikuchii in all soybean cultivars. The cultivars showed contrasting results in relation to harvesting delay in the aspect of physiological quality. This way, it can be concluded that the early harvest was dependent on the weather coming from the pre-harvest and the seeds from the anticipation presented superior physiological quality, and sanitary quality maintenance. The delayed harvest provided the obtaining of under physiological quality, besides providing the incidence of Phomopsis sp. Portanto é interessante que as sementes após a maturidade fisiológica reduzam o seu período de permanência no campo, pois isto pode reduzir a qualidade destas. Assim, a antecipação da colheita pelo uso de dessecantes pode ser uma alternativa para a manutenção da qualidade das sementes. O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar a eficiência do uso de dessecantes e o efeito do atraso da colheita sobre a qualidade sanitária e fisiológica de sementes de soja no município de Campos Novos - Santa Catarina. Para isso foram conduzidos experimentos a campo nas safras 2011/12, 2012/13 e 2013/14. Nas duas primeiras safras avaliou-se o efeito da dessecação pré-colheita com o uso de três dessecantes, uma testemunha, dois estágio de aplicação e cinco cultivares de soja sobre o rendimento, antecipação da colheita, qualidade fisiológica e sanitária das sementes. Na terceira safra, além do uso de dessecantes com intuito de antecipar a colheita, inclui-se o atraso de colheita de 15 dias com objetivo de verificar a resposta de diferentes cultivares de soja sobre os aspectos de qualidade sanitária e fisiológica das sementes. Na safra 2011/12 houve a antecipação de colheita em 6 dias com o uso dos dessecantes paraquate e glufosinato de amônio aplicados no estágio R7.1. Porém, nas safras 2012/13 e 2013/14 o uso da dessecação não antecipou a colheita, mesmo sem a presença de chuva na pré-colheita. O rendimento não foi reduzido com a dessecação em nenhuma das safras agrícolas. Na safra 2011/12 as sementes oriundas da antecipação da colheita apresentaram qualidade fisiológica superior à testemunha, porém, a qualidade sanitária não foi alterada. O atraso da colheita aumentou a incidência de Phomopsis sp. e reduziu a incidência de Cercospora kikuchii em todas as cultivares de soja. As cultivares apresentaram resultados contrastantes em relação ao atraso de colheita no aspecto de qualidade fisiológica. Desta maneira conclui-se que a antecipação da colheita foi dependente das condições climáticas oriundas da pré-colheita e as sementes oriundas da antecipação apresentaram qualidade fisiológica superior, e manutenção da qualidade sanitária. O atraso da colheita proporcionou a obtenção de sementes de menor qualidade fisiológica, além de aumentar a incidência de Phomopsis sp.
