Mutual coupling reduction on phased array antennas applying high-impedance surface at X-Band

This paper presents a microstrip phased array with 35 elementsusing High-Impedance Surface (HIS) in order tominimize the effects of mutual coupling. Each element ofthe array is fed by a coaxial cable allowing the steering ofbeam by controlling the signal of the input port of each element.This phased array operates at X-Band as well as onthe band gap of the HIS structure.
