Bishops Selection and Quality of the Episcopal Government in Central-Northern Italy during the Fourteenth Century: Some Research Notes

Il contributo si accosta al tema della selezione dei vescovi alla fine del medioevo provando a sintetizzare alcuni dei più recenti orientamenti di ricerca presenti sia nella storiografia europea sia, più nel dettaglio, in quella italiana. Fra gli altri temi, particolare attenzione è posta alla questione delle culture di governo espresse dai vescovi e dai loro collaboratori nell’esercizio delle loro funzioni. DOI 10.17464/9788867742769This paper focuses on the process of selection and appointment of bishops at the end of the Middle Ages, by trying to summarize a number of topics debated in recent historiography (both Italian and European).
