Effect of Youtube App to Improve Students' Writing Ability on Procedure Text

[[abstract]]EFFECT OF YOUTUBE AS MEDIA TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ WRITING ABILITY ON PROCEDURE TEXT This thesis is discussing about teaching writing by using Youtube app as the media to improve the students’ ability. This thesis aims to solve the students problem in writing Procedure text. There are some problems that experienced by the students while learning writing procedure text such as less in vocabulary, grammar, spelling, difficult to find out topic sentence and were difficult to construct a text coherently. The research problems of this research are “What is the effect of Youtube as teaching method to the students’ ability in writing procedure text?” and “What are the student’s responses towards on the effect of Youtube app as teaching method in writing procedure text?” The research design of this research is the experimental quantitative research. In collecting the data of the research, the writer gave the students a test. The test was essay test. Each class consists of 20 students. After giving the test, the writer analyzed the students’ answer by using technique of scoring writing. Based on the calculation, the writer found that the mean of post test in experimental class was 71.25 and the mean of post test in control class was 64.5. It can be seen from df : 38 (20 + 20 – 2) with the t-table was 1.68 and the level of significance 0.05. The writer also found the t-test was 2.69, and t-table was 1.68, the t-test was higher than t-table (2.69>1.68). It can be concluded that Youtube had a significant effect in teaching writing procedure text. Key words: Writing, Youtube app, Procedure Text
