Surface acoustic wave (SAW) is a form of an acoustic wave of nano-meter amplitude travelling along the surface of an elastic material. Recently, SAW devices have shown promising application in fluid actuation for microfluidics. We present a novel method to measure fluid viscosity by means of light scattered on the surface of a sessile drop when actuated with Surface Acoustic Waves (SAW)
