Background: Nitroxyl (HNO), the reduced and protonated congener of nitric oxide (NO), is emerging as a novel entity with distinct pharmacology and therapeutic advantages over NO• [1]. Importantly, HNO has vasoprotective actions with the potential to serve as an antioxidant.
