This article begins with a description of the central characteristics of fundamentalism and fundamentalist education. The critical analysis of fundamentalist education focuses on the notion of respect for people. Comprehensive liberal, political liberal, and fundamentalist conceptions of respect for people are compared. The article ends with the education of children toward respecting people by asking the question, "How, in schools, should children be taught to respect other persons?"
