<p>Objective: To systematically review the relationship of premorbid adjustment to symptomatology in first episode psychosis (FEP), taking into account the influence of duration of untreated psychosis (DUP).</p> <p>Method: Electronic databases were searched to identify relevant studies.</p> <p>Results: A variety of approaches to the reporting of premorbid adjustment were identified. There was no significant association between premorbid adjustment and DUP, supporting the proposition that they are independent constructs. The effect of premorbid adjustment upon positive symptomatology was negligible. Premorbid adjustment had a modest effect upon negative symptoms and quality of life, increasing over dura...
