PENURUNAN COD, BOD, dan TSS LIMBAH CAIR PEWARNAAN INDUSTRI BATIK �RARA DJONGGRANG� DENGAN METODE ELEKTROKOAGULASI

The Batik industry in Yogyakarta have grown rapidly, one of which the batik industry is \"Rara Djonggrang\". The higher activity in industrial production causes of sewage, especially on batik�s dyeing process. The parameters COD, BOD, and TSS wastewater sample test coloring in liquid sewage in industrial that includes coloring Naphtolat and Diazo Salts sewage, it is known that the sewage exceeds the threshold. The conventional method which is used for processing wastewater still has flaws so that need other methods of sewage treatment as an alternative, that is electrocoagulation method. The electrocoagulation process has influenced by the distance between the electrode and electrical voltage. The electrode using in this form is an aluminum plate with 10 cm length, 8 cm wide and 0.1 cm thick. Electrocoagulation process is done by varying the range between the electrode and electrical voltage. Naphtolat and Diazo Salts sewage are using variations of electrode range of 4 cm and 6 cm with a power supply voltage of 10 V and 15 V, whereas the mixture of sewage Naphtolat and Diazo Salt are using variations of electrode range of 2 cm, 4 cm and 6 cm with a power supply voltage of 5 V, 10 V, and 15 V. To determine the effect of range electrode and tension to the reduction of COD and TSS sewage then the samples taken every 15 minutes during the process were analyzed, while BOD was analyzed at the beginning and the end of the electrocoagulation process. The research results showed that the range of the electrodes and the voltage are give effect to the reduction in COD, BOD, and TSS in liquid sewage electrocoagulation process in staining batik industry \"Rara Djonggrang\". The optimum electrode range on TSS and BOD reduction in the optimum is a range of 2 cm with 85.71% of TSS decrease and 7.02% of BOD reduction, while the optimum COD reduction in a range of 4 cm with a decrease of 92.18%. The voltage give effect to decrease in TSS and COD are 15 V, with 85.71% of TSS decrease and 92.18% of COD reduction. The most optimum of BOD value is using voltage variation 10 V and a range of 6 cm. Electrocoagulation process with using aluminum electrode is the most appropriate for treating Diazol Salt sewage
