The Time Machine as H. G. Wells�s Social Criticism on the Social Class Differences of the 19th Century England

This graduating paper studies H. G. Wels�s The Time Machine in an attempt to observe H. G. Wells�s intention of creating two new human races in the future as seen in the work. It relates the characteristics of the future that Wells created, to the situation of England in the late 19th century, which was the time when Wells wrote The Time Machine. The research uses Abrams�s expressive approach. Using library research method, data from reliable sources are used as supporting data in the process of analyzing phrases and direct quotes taken from that particular piece of literary work. The research finds that H. G. Wells gives social criticism towards inequality between the ruling class and working class during England 19th century in his work, The Time Machine
