PENGARUH EKSTRAK METHANOL Hoodia macrantha SEBAGAI PENEKAN NAFSU MAKAN TERHADAP KECEMASAN MENCIT JANTAN

Background : Obesity is one of the risk factor of various diseases. It can also affect a person�s psychological condition. Many things can be done to address obesity. One such way is by taking a weight loss supplement. Extract of the Hoodia sp widely used as materials for a weight loss supplement. The extract works by suppressing appetite users. Research has never been done on the effect of extracts of Hoodia sp against anxiety. Objective : To determine the effect of an oral administration Hoodia macrantha methanol extract on male mice anxiety. Methods : Twelve-month-old Hoodia macrantha was extracted using 100% methanol. The extract is then made into a suspension with a dose of 0, 5, 15, and 50mg/KgBW/1ml. The suspension was given to 24 male Swiss mice aged 2 months for 7 days. Oral gavage was done once a day in the morning. Male mice were divide into 4 groups according to the dosage administration. Each group consisted 6 mice. After administration of suspension of Hoodia macrantha methanol extract done, mice anxiety assessed on the eight day. Assessment of anxiety of mice used the elevated plus maze apparatus. Percentage of time spent and the amount entered in the open arms was analyzed using Oneway ANOVA test. The result was considered significant if p<0.05 and not significant if p
