Chitosan is a natural biopolymer which has been widely used in nanoparticle formulation because it has many advantages, such as mucoadhesive, biocompatible, biodegradable, non-toxic, and low immunogenicity levels in the human body. However, chitosan has a heavy molecular weight, high viscosity, and low solubility, which is limiting its application. Strategy to lower the molecular weight of chitosan was by using 75 kGy gamma radiations.
