PROYEKSI PEMBANGKITAN LISTRIK TENAGA MIKRO HIDRO DENGAN SKENARIO MANAJEMEN AIR-ENERGI YANG TERINTEGRASI DI KABUPATEN PESISIR SELATAN, SUMATERA BARAT

Micro Hydro Power (MHP) is one of the technologies that is developed to face energy crisis especially in remote areas. In addition, MHP is also expected to reduce the depedence on fossil fuels in terms of power generation. This action is needed because climate change has impacts on the environment. One of the impacts is increasing temperature and decreasing precipitation. These two phenomenon cause fluctuations in river discharge (debit), which will directly affect the MHP electricity production. As a case study in this research, three MHPs which currently operating alongside the river named Bayang River on Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan will be the focus of study. On the electricity production side, WEAP (Water Evaluation and Planning) software is applied to assess water availability to generate electricity. On the electricity demand side, LEAP (Long-range Energy Alternatives Planning) software is used to predict the electricity needs. Simulation on water availability and electricity consumption will be forecasted until the next 12 years with year 2013 as the base year and year 2025 as final year projection. The results showed that in BAU scenario, electricity demand of Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan is estimated at 132.8 GWh in 2025. The climate change scenario result showed that the MHP only capable to generate electricity at 0.572 GWh in 2025. The energy saving scenario help reduce the electricity demand by year 2025 to 93.6 GWh, thus at the final year projection MHP is able to meet the electricity demand at 0.61% of the total demand
