PERANCANGAN TURBIN PEMBANGKIT DAYA TENAGA SURYA TERMAL 250 KW

The demand of electrical power increases constantly each year. Because of energy resources is limited, it is necessary to look up for the other renewable energies, such as geothermal, solar power plant, and solar thermal power plant. A few area in Indonesia have potential resources to be used as solar thermal energy like in Sumbawa, Nusa Tenggara Barat province. It has solar radiation resources as much as 5.747 kWh/m2. Solar Thermal Power Plant is a power generation system that uses using solar thermal as resource. Solar Thermal Power Plant system consists of three main parts, i.e. heat exchanger (collector), turbine, and cooling system. System of solar thermal power plant is modelled using conventional Rankine cycle, by using water as working fluids. The system is required to work within range of pressure from 8 bar to 0.2 bar to generate power at 250 kW. As the result of the cycle optimization, the mass flow of working fluid is 0.4262 kg/s, the number of nozzle and rotor are 20 and 40, the turbine radius is 0.2866 m, and the rotor frequency is 3000 rpm respectively. By considering all requirement the designed nozzle and rotor dimension to generate power by 250 kW can be determined with the best efficiency. Based on calculation, the dimension of radial inflow turbine which is suitable with demands of the design, the trends of radius changing, inlet angle and outlet angle of rotor can be determined.
