PERJUANGAN PEREMPUAN MELAWAN KETIDAKADILAN GENDER DALAM NOVEL CA-BAU-KAN (HANYA SEBUAH DOSA) KARYA REMY SYLADO: ANALISIS KRITIK SASTRA FEMINIS SOSIALIS

Object of this study is novel Ca-Bau-Kan (hereinafter abbreviated as CBK) written by Remy Sylado. The objective of the study is to gain meaning through the viewpoint of feminist literary criticism. Thus, the study used feminist literary criticism. Generally, feminism is about women's liberation movement. Feminism has several types, i.e. Radical feminism, Liberal feminism, Marxist feminism, and Socialist feminism. In accordance with the facts contained in the CBK's novel, the study used theory of socialist feminism. Socialist feminism assumes that gender inequality is experienced by women due to social construction that exists in society. In addition, feminist approaches were applied using an objective method adapted to the concept of �reading as a woman�. This feminism literary criticism analysis was conducted using feminism approach. There were some steps to apply the feminist approach. First was to identify the character of women and men in the novel CBK. Thus, it can be seen that there are two groups attached to the leaders with a look at the pro or contrast to feminist ideas, called pro-feminist and contra-feminist. Second was to reveal gender inequality experienced by some female characters in the novel CBK. Gender inequality in the novel CBK is manifested in the form of stereotypes of women and violence against women. Finally, this study analyzed the feminist ideas as effort for women as characters to fight against gender injustice in the novel CBK. The feminist ideas are women should be independent and able to have self-determination, and then women have to go ahead and have pride. With socialist feminists, it seems that novel CBK has shown resistance to gender inequalities experienced female figures. Novel CBK shows the existence of gender differences. Lack of understanding of gender differences cause gender inequality occurred, in the form of stereotypes and violence against women. In novel CBK, the struggle for women's liberation is shown through figures of Jeng Tut. Jeng Tut has feminism�s prominent criteria. From these efforts, Jeng Tut struggled to change society's view of Javanese women that had been constructed as weak creatures only depend on of men
