RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PRODROMAL SYNDROME AND DURATION OF UNTREATED PSYCHOSIS (DUP) IN EARLY PSYCHOSIS PATIENT IN DAERAH ISTIMEWA YOGYAKARTA.

OBJECTIVE: Early psychosis commonly occurs in young adult thus may have large effect in their life later. The delivery and appropriate early treatment, management and care for early psychosis is often delayed when there is vague prodromal syndrome thus increasing the Duration of Untreated Psychosis (DUP). AIM: This research is done to study whether prodromal syndromes correlates with Duration of Untreated Psychosis (DUP). METHOD: This is a quantitative non-experimental study, using cross-sectional descriptive analytic design where both the variables are performed or evaluated at once in the same time on 100 patients age 15 to 30 years old with a caregiver age ranging from 18 to 70 years old, whose have been diagnosed with acute psychotic, schizophrenia, schizoaffective and delusions, excluding relapse patients and those whose have been diagnosed more than one year. RESULT: there is positive linear correlation between prodromal syndromes and DUP. However, there is also a possibilities that there is random, nonlinear relationship between the prodromal syndromes and DUP. CONCLUSION: There is association between prodromal syndromes and DUP. Longer prodromal syndrome may lead to longer DUP. Early recognition and detection of prodromal syndromes can shorten DUP
