Gamavuton-0 (GVT) is an analog of curcumin with molecular formula 1,5-bis(4'- hidroksi-3'-metoksifenil)-1,4-pentadien-3-on. GVT-0 has better stability than curcumin under influence of pH and light. GVT-0 has biological activity as antiinflamatory, antioxidant, and antitumor agent. The weakness of GVT-0 is its physical property in water, where GVT-0 has low solubility in water so that the absorbsion of GVT-0 in G.I tract will be decreased, so do the bioavailability. One method that use in increasing the solubility of non polar molecule is by entrapping hydrophobic molecule in matrix of hydrophilic polymer such as chitosan and alginate in nanoparticle form.
