CIREBON KOTA WALI SEBAGAI KOTA ISLAMI DI JAWA

Cirebon is a city which there are many activities such as shipping activities, trade, and services. In addition, Cirebon is also known as �wali� city, cause as the initiator and founder was a �wali�, namely sheikh Syarifhidyatullah or Sunan Gunungjati. Sunan Gunungjati has taught and instill Islamic values in society. Now his doctrine has been manifest in a visual society and the physical of city into the Islamic city indicated. Not many theories that discuss Islamic city, so it is interesting for discussed. But whether Cirebon as a �wali� city could be included in the Islamic city of Java? then to answer the authors use the case study research in this study. The findings of this study obtained five domains forming Cirebon of a �wali� city as the Islamic city of Java, such as Islamic space, socialization space, and attributes of the �wali� city. The Three of domains are included in the concept of physical space and the Islamic city of Java. Meanwhile, two other domains are religious and cultural activities of the Islamic Javanese city into the social conception of Javanese Islam. All these themes and study of Islam literature about the Islamic city that is in some other countries is what creates visually Cirebon entered to the Islamic city, in this case the Islamic city of Java
