PENGARUH DAYA ANTIBAKTERI EKSTRAK ETANOLIK BUNGA KAMBOJA PUTIH (Plumeria alba) TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN BAKTERI PLAK GIGI Fusobacterium nucleatum (Kajian secara In Vitro)

Periodontal disease is a type of disease that affects gingival and alveolar bone. The disease control is done by lessen the amount of bacteria. One of bacteria which caused periodontal disease is Fusobacterium nucleatum. The use of herbal medicine as anti-bacteria that was used by many people and rarely creates side effect, is using white cambodia flower (Plumeria alba). White Cambodia flower consists of many important chemical compounds, which are flavonoid, alkaloid, tannins, steroids, saponin and terpenoids. The aim of this study was to find out the effect of anti-bacteria ethanolic extract power of White Cambodia flower (Plumeria alba) towards the growth of Fusobacterium nucleatum bacteria on plaque in vitro. This study was using well diffusion method. MHA media as much as 5 petri cups were smeared with Fusobacterium nucleatum bacteria suspension and 5 holes were made at 5 mm diameter. Every hole was dripped by ethanolic extract power of white cambodia flower as much as 30 μl with 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% concentration and sterile distilled water as negative control. MHA media was incubated at 370C during 24 hours. Inhibition zone diameter around well hole was measured by using vernier caliper with 0,02 mm accuracy for 3 times. Data of the research was analyzed using one way ANOVA and LSD.
