Plaque is the main etiology of periodontal disease, of which include a chronic periodontitis. The growth of Fusobacterium nucleatum as plaque former could cause severe chronic periodontitis. Prevention of periodontal disease severity can be done by eliminating and preventing of plaque formation using a natural product that has antibacterial capabilities, one of which is papaya leaf which contains alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, steroids, tannins and triterpenoids.
