Marmin is a coumarin derivative compound isolated from the cortex and the root of Aegle marmelos Correa. Marmin was reported have inhibition effect on histamine release from RBL-2H3 cell culture. In the ileum, there is not only histamine receptor that can contribute on the contraction. But also involve acetylcholine and serotonine receptors. Based on that fact, Marmin was expected to have antagonism action at that receptors. This research was conducted to investigate the effect of marmin on the guinea pig ileum smooth muscle contraction induced by histamine, metacholine and serotonine.
