MOTIVASI VOLUNTARY COUNSELLING AND TESTING (VCT) PADA WARIA DI YOGYAKARTA

Background : Shemale is considered as an HIV/AIDS high risk population due to their life behavior. Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) is an effective prevention method of HIV infection. In order to designing effective program to enhance the use of VCT, an accurate understanding of the current motivation of VCT among shemale people in Yogyakarta is very important Objective : This research was aimed to assess the motivation for use VCT among shemale people in Yogyakarta Method: From December 2012 to March 2013, we conducted a cross-sectional qualitative study using face to face deep interview among 8 shemale in Yogyakarta Result : Motivation for use VCT influence by personal belief for routinely attend VCT testing. Shemale get advice and encouragement from friends to do the VCT. HIV-positive result related to anxiety but not as an obstacle to get VCT. Conclusion : Shemale know about VCT, but not all of them performed VCT
