PEMBACAAN PENONTON TERHADAP SIRI DALAM FILM TELEVISI BADIK TITIPAN AYAH (Studi Kasus pada Kalangan Mahasiswa Bugis di Yogyakarta)

This study describes and analyzes the identity of the movie audiences through a text narration of the television movie Badik Titipan Ayah. The study towards audiences of the movie BadikTitipan Ayah is very interesting to do because it appoints the matter of the local ethnic of South Sulawesi about the effort in maintaining Siri�. The story of the movie is very different from the discourse of the existing television movies which are poor in story. This study is a qualitative study. Data collection is done by Focus Group Discussion and Indeep Interview toward five Bugis university students from South Sulawesi in which stays in Yogyakarta. Keywords: Audiences, Encoding-Decoding, Siri�, Silariang, and Identity. The collected data was then analyzed by using the concept of encoding decoding and the identity of Stuart Hall. Badik Tititpan Ayah questioned the story of silariang (elopement) as a practice of marriage that was considered taboo, breaking tradition and highly contested. However, audiences through decoding which was done is evidently out of the text offered by BadikTitipan Ayah. The position of audiences toward completion of silariang phenomena is dominant hegemonic. However, in the topic of the gender relation, domination relation, dui menre� of audiences occupied a oppositional and negotiation position. The change showed that audiences formed the identity. The main factor of the identity forming was setting of the education, social environment, and their historical experience
