Background: The maternal mortality rate is one of the main indicators of health status of a country, which can also indicate the ability and quality of health care, health service capacity, quality education and community knowledge. Based on the profile Purworejo District Health Office in 2007 as many as 217 maternal deaths per 100,000 living, in 2008, as many as 164 per 100,000 living, and in 2009 as many as 109 per 100,000 living.
