Most of the Anophelines as malaria vector in the South and South-East Asian countries have been identified as cryptic species. Morfological difference of cryptic species is minute and may be restricted to a particular stage in the life-cycle. Therefore morphological identification might be misleading to characterize and identify cryptic species. Anopheles balabacensis is a member of the Leucosphyrus complex, Leucosphyrus Group. It has come to be recognized as important human malaria vector in Purworejo.
