HUBUNGAN PENGETAHUAN GIZI DAN PERILAKU MAKAN DENGAN KOMPONEN SINDROMA METABOLIK PADA TOKOH AGAMA DI KOTA MANADO

Background: In Indonesia cardiovascular disease is the main cause of mortality with risk factors of hypertension, hyperglicemia, obesity and hyperlipidemia related to unhealthy eating pattern, less physical activities, and smoking habit. Nearly one third (33.1%) of adults in Sulawesi Utara are overweight and obese three times greater than the national prevalence of 10.3%. This figure indicates that Sulawesi Utara is facing double burden. Central obesity as risk factor of metabolik syndrome at the Province of Sulawesi Utara has reached one of three people of �15 years old. Objective: To identify the prevalence of metabolik syndrome, association between intake of food at risk, physical activities and the prevalence of metabolik syndrome in religious leaders at Manado Municipality. Method: The study was observational with cross sectional design undertaken from December 2010 to Fabruary 2011 at Manado Municipality Province of Sulawesi Utara with the population as many as 6770 religious leaders and sample size 147 people taken using systematic random sampling technique. Screening to identify metabolik syndrome used indicator of central obesity (waist circumference for men > 90 cm and for women > 80 cm), hypertension of systolic and dyastolic (�130/�85 mmHg), hyperglicemia (GDP >110 mg/dl), physical activities with international physical activity (IPAQ) and intake of food at risk with semi quantitative food frequency questionnaire. Data analysis used univariate, bivariate and multivariate methods. Result: The prevalence of metabolik syndrome in religious leaders at Manado Municipality was 42.17%. Metabolik syndrome was more often found in the subject with risk factor of food at risk particularly low of potasium intake <3500 mg/day (52.25 times), intake of high protein (13.7 times), low intake of simple carbohydrate >10% nutritional adequacy of the recommended (AKG), high intake of sodium (9.71 times), high intake of protein >20% (AKG) (10.12 times).
