ACINIC CELLCARCINOMA OF PALATE

Background: Aciniccell carcinoma is a rare low-grade carcinoma with the incidence of only 2-4% of salivarygland neoplasms. This kind of malignant neoplasm usually affects the female population rather than the males and may occur at any age. Unusual occurences of this neoplasm is reported in hard palate, maxillarysinuses, lip etc. This paper presents a rare case of acinic cell carcinoma at the palate region. Methods: This isa case report of a 31-year-old female patient that had an aciniccell carcinoma only on the left side of the hard palate region. Results: Removalthrough hemimaxillectomy was performed under general anesthesia and a palatal obturator was placed immediately after the hemimaxillectomy. The patient then underwent radiotherapy after the surgery and has been in good condition six months postoperatively. Conclusion: Aciniccell carcinoma isa rare carcinoma and the treatment is complete surgical removal with good prognosis because of its low grade malignancyand its low mitotic rate.
