In this experiment, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy is used to identify different animal body fats (cow, mutton, chicken and lard) since FTIR spectroscopy is simpler in sample preparation, less time consumption and more economical. Fat identification using FTIR spectrometer was done to find out the specific wave number of each animal body fat. It is expected that this specific wave number can differentiate lard from other animal body fats (cow, mutton and chicken). The experiment result shows that chicken body fat FTIR spectrum is similar to that of lard.
