Background: Around 35% of child mortality is associated to malnutrition. Globally, it is estimated that only 34.8% of infants are given exclusive breastfeeding in their first six months of life. Particularly in Indonesia, there was a decrease in both duration of exclusive breastfeeding and its follow-up till two years in which the earlier was from 39.5% in 2002-2003 to 32.4% in 2007 while the latter was from 58.7% to 50.3%. In Langsa Municipality, breastfeeding practice reaches only 22.9%. The factors affecting mother�s decision to continue breastfeeding until six months are among others, socio-demographic and psychosocial factors.
