Preconcentration of Cu(II) by solid phase extraction (SPE) method using chitin immobilized dithizone as adsorbent has been studied. Chitin was isolated from prawn seawater shells by means of deproteination with 3.5 % NaOH (m/v) and demineralization with 1 M HCl and then immobilized by dithizone in toluene medium. Chitin-immobilized dithizone obtained was characterized using infrared spectrometer and X-ray difraction. Prepared chitin immobilized dithizone was used as selective adsorbent for preconcentration of Cu(II) on solid phase extraction catridge.
