PERILAKU LENTUR BALOK BATATON AKIBAT BEBAN STATIK

Casting of normal reinforced concrete beam requires a number of formworks and takes relatively long time. Therefore, bataton beam that made by pouring wet concrete into U-shape concrete blocks is introduced. The casting process of bataton beam is relatively shorter than the normal reinforced concrete beam. It is expected that the flexural behavior of bataton beam is not different from the normal reinforced concrete beam. This research was conducted to investigate the flexural behavior of bataton beam, and then to compare the experimental result to the theoretical analysis result of normal reinforced concrete beam. In this research, there were 16 specimens which were divided into two groups. The first group consisted of 6 one-layered bataton beams and 2 control beams (the dimension of the beams was 140x140x3000 mm). The second group consisted of 6 two-layered bataton beams and 2 control beams (the dimension of the beams was 140x290x3000 mm). Bataton beam consisted of bataton block and normal concrete which had different quality. The quality of bataton block was 3,5 MPa, while the quality of normal concrete was 20 MPa. The quality of control beam was 20 MPa. All specimens were tested using three-point loading system to get pure bending capacity with positive and negative moment reviews. The result showed that the initial slope of the P-δ curves of bataton beams showed the similar trend to the control beam. The average flexural capacity of one-layered bataton beam on the positive moment region was 16,54 % lower than the control beam, while on the negative moment region it was 57,66 % lower than the control beam. The average flexural capacity of two-layered bataton beam on the positive moment region was 8,40 % lower than the control beam, while on the negative moment region it was 10,55 % lower than the control beam. The initial crack occurred before the load reached the allowable deflection (it was about 7,5 mm) with range of load (Pcr) around 2,22-2,42 kN for one-layered bataton beam and 9,42-14,32 kN for two-layered bataton beam. On the positive moment region, the average stiffness of one-layered bataton beam was 29,18 % lower than the control beam, while the average stiffness of two-layered bataton beam was 2,13 % lower than the control beam. The ductility of one-layered bataton beam was 23,24 % lower than the control beam. All of the beams experienced flexural failure with the initial crack along the middle span and then spread to the load. In conclusion, the flexural capacities of bataton beam (experimental result) and normal reinforced concrete beam (analysis result) were not significantly different in certain condition. Investigation to analysis approaches of normal reinforced concrete beam is still needed in order to find the appropriate analysis approach as a reference for analyzing flexural capacity of bataton beam
