Thismeansthat the traditional Javanesehouseis not just a place to shelter (practical function), but also understoodasa manifestation of the idealsand outlook on life or a symbolicfunction. Jawa memiliki nilai-nilai sarat dengan nilai etika dan estetika. Salah satu bentuk nilai-nilai tersebut adalah joglo yang memiliki pengetahuan lokal budaya Jawa. Model pendekatan dalam penelitian ini mengarah ke etnografi deskriptif kualitatif. Realitas empiris diperoleh peneliti langsung ke lokasi penelitian, untuk mendapatkan gambaran tentang kehidupan sesuai dengan tradisi mereka, dan gejala kehidupan sehari-hari yang penuh dengan kearifan loka!. Penelitian ini merupakan studi kasus tunggal terpancang. Dalam konteks studi kasus ini, rumah tradisional Jawa sebagai sub unit analisis, namun keberadaannya masih dipandang sebagai bagian dari sistem sosial masyarakat yang lebih luas di sekitar Surakarta. Struktur bangunan rumah tradisional Jawa mencermi!lkan komposisi ruang bangunan khas seperti: pendhapa, pringgitan, dalem, dapur, atau gadri gandhok. Hubungan antara struktur ini sangat dipengaruhi oleh mitologi proses manifestasi dan kosmologi Jawa. Ini berarti bahwa rumah Jawa tradisional tidak hanya sebuah tempat untuk berlindung (fungsi praktis), tetapi juga dipahami sebagai manifestasi dari cita-cita dan pandangan hidup atau fungsi simbolis.
