Program Manajemen Terpadu Balita Sakit di Kabupaten Purworejo, Jawatengah

Background: The Integrated Management of Childhood Illness is a program launched by WHO in its efforts to lower the number of illness and death in the developing countries, including Indonesia. The program has been done in some community health centers in Purworejo regency. However, there has not been an evaluation of the effect of the Integrated Management of Childhood Illness Program on the recovery of acute respiratory infection and diarrhea among under-five-year-old children. Objectives: To find out of the effect of the integrated management of childhood illness program on the recovery of acute respiratory infection and diarrhea among underfive-year-old children in community health centers of Purworejo regency. Methods: This was an observational study using Cohort's retrospective approach. The subjects were under-five-year-old children aged 2 months to 5 years old receiving services in the community health centers holding the Integrated Management of Childhood Illness Program and non-program. The subjects were 170 under-five-year-old children. The samples were taken using Random Sampling technique. The quantitative data were analyzed using chi-square test. Results: The results showed that based on the statistical test, the recovery of acute respiratory infection and diarrhea showed no significant different, either using the Integrated Management of Childhood illness program or non program (p>0.05). from all control variables observed, the immunization status, nutritional status, mothers' educational level, and parents' occupation showed no relationship with the recovery of acute respiratory infection and diarrhea among infants and children (p>0.05). Conclusions: It can be concluded that there was no effect of the integrated management of childhood illness program on the recovery of acute respiratory infection and diarrhea among under-five-year-old children.
