Kardiyono ABSTRACT Low cost housing is expected by most people in most cities, especially for low income people. Such houses will become into reality if they are made of local materials and easy to do by local workmanships. The effort for obtaining the low cost building has been done as the research in no-fines concrete. This concrete is light in weight and with burned clay as the artificial aggregate which can be obtained and be produced by local workmanships. The other effort to know the behaviour of reinforced no-fines concrete beam has been demonstrated succesfully, though a difficulty is still found in anchoring the reinforcing steel at the end of the beam.
