Please click on the hyperlink in Additional Links fieldThree patients with RS3 PE syndrome (Remitting seronegative symmetrical synovitis with pitting edema) are presented. Two males aged 61 and 68 and one female 41 years old. All presented with symmetrical pitting edema of hand, feet, forearms and ankles rather than direct arthritis. All were Rh seronegative and the symptoms started abruptly. Two were treated with prednisolon (10 mg or 15 mg daily) for 12 and 18 weeks, together with oxychloroquine for 5 and 6 months at which time they had become nearly asymptomatic. The female was treated with sulindac 40 mg daily for 10 weeks, no treatment after that and symptoms were minimal at 5 months follow up. It is concluded that the symptoms respond quickly to steroids, slower but also well to oxychlorochine but less to NSAID. RS3 PE syndrome is believed to be a disease of old age. Our patient no. Ill is to our knowledge the youngest case reported.Athygli er vakin á ákveðnu heilkenni liðagigtar sem lítt hefur verið fjallað um.
