Workers movement and national and linguistic problem. The case of the communists in the Balearic Islands (1921-1978)

Este artículo tiene por objeto analizar la posición adoptada por los comunistas baleares respecto al debate nacionalitario y lingüístico desde sus orígenes hasta los inicios de la transición posfranquista. En este sentido, se subraya la trascendencia de la evolución experimentada en la fase final de la dictadura de Franco, momento en que la identificación del régimen con el centralismo español propició un acercamiento de las formaciones de izquierda a los planteamientos de los nacionalismos periféricos.This paper analyses the position taken by the Balearic Communists on the national and linguistic debate from its origins to the beginning of the post-Franco Transition. The importance of the evolution experienced in the final phase of Franco's dictatorship, when the identification of the regime with Spanish centralism led the political left to approach the stance of the peripheral nationalisms, is underlined
