El neógeno del extremo occidental de la cuenca del Guadalquivir

Las diferentes formaciones (Tortoniense-Plioceno inferior), que se han distinguido en la cuenca del Guadalquivir representan un conjunto de secuencias de afinidades litorales. La evolución secuencial permite diferenciar sectores con niveles energéticos distintos. Se interpreta que el paleorrelieve de la Meseta Ibérica transgredido fuese la causa de esta diferenciación energética. Esta cuenca de antepaís registra evidencias de la actividad tectónica sinsedimentaria, que viene reflejada en la profusión de interrupciones sedimentarias en el seno de su serie estratigráfica.At the Western Guadalquivir basin, Southern Spain, several formations outcrops ranging from Tortonian to lower Pliocene. All these units shows littoral features bassed on fossil, ichnogenus and inorganic structures sequences. The different sequences allows to distinguish more restricted sectors from high energetic areas. So that the Iberian Meseta paleorrelief, which neogene sequences are onlapping, was the responsible of this energetic sector distribution. Firstly, the Tortonian transgression (and regression later) is recorded as nearshore progradational series (Niebla Calcarenite formation). The Pliocene sedimentation is initiated with lagoon s.l. facies (Gibraleón Shales formation), followed by shoreface (Huelva Sands formation) and foreshore/bakshore-?- (Bonares Sands formation) facies. The sedimentary breaks within this neogene series points out the sinsedimentary tectonic activity in this foreland basin
