En este artículo se estudia la vida de sor Ángela Serafina, monja capuchina catalana que vivió en la segunda mitad del siglo xvi. Se analiza su experiencia vital de malos tratos recibidos por parte de su marido. Viuda, con hijos, decidió entrar en el convento donde llevó una vida ejemplar y fue considerada santa en vida. Su proceso de beatificación, iniciado inmediatamente después de su muerte, y reabierto varias veces (la última en el marco de la Semana Trágica de Barcelona) nunca prosperó.
