This quasi experimental research aimed to know the effectiveness of Socrates Contextual Learning viewed by students mathematical critical thinking ability. The research design which was used was one-group pretest-posttest. The population of this research was all of students of grade VII of SMP Negeri 8 Bandarlampung in academic year of 2014/2015. The sample of this research was students of VII J class that was chosen by purposive sampling technique. The data of the research were collected by students mathematical critical thinking ability test which was analyzed by the right side of paired sample t-test and proportion test.
