Pengaruh Model Discovery Learning Terhadap Pemahaman Konsep Matematis Siswa

This quasi experimental research aimed to find out the influence of discovery learning to student’s mathematical concept comprehension. The population of this research was students of grade VIII of Junior High School Al Kautsar Bandarlampung in academic year of 2016/2017 as much as 260 students that were distributed into seven classes, start from VIII B until VIII H (excluding VIIIA because it is a excellent class). The sampling was done by cluster random sampling technique and it was chosen students of VIII B and VIII E as samples. The design which was used in this research was the pretest-posttest design control group design. Research data were obtained through test of ma­thematical concept comprehension. The data analysis which was used was Mann-Whitney U test. The result of this research show that enhancement of mathe­matical concept comprehension of student who follow learning with discovery lear­ning no higher than mathematical concept comprehension of student who follow learning with convensional learning. Based on the results and work­ing through of research, the conclusion of the research is the discovery learning model wasn’t influence to student’s mathematical concept comprehension. Penelitian eksperimen semu ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran discovery learning terhadap pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Al Kautsar Bandarlampung tahun pelajaran 2016/2017 sebanyak 260 siswa yang terdistribusi dalam tujuh kelas, mulai dari VIII B hingga VIII H (tidak termasuk kelas VIII A karena merupakan kelas unggu­lan). Pengam­bilan sam­­pel dilakukan dengan teknik cluster random sampling dan terpilih siswa pada kelas VIII B dan VIII E sebagai sampel. Desain penelitian ini menggunakan pretest-posttest control group design. Data penelitian diperoleh dengan menggunakan instrumen tes pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Pengujian hipotesis menggunakan uji Mann-Whitney U. Hasil dari penelitian ini me­nunjukkan bahwa peningkatan pe­ma­haman kon­sep matematis siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan model discovery learning tidak lebih tinggi dari peningkatan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa yang me­ngikuti pembelajaran dengan model pembelajaran konven­sional. Berdasarkan hasil dan pembahasan, diperoleh simpulan bahwa model discovery learning tidak ber­pengaruh terhadap pemahaman konsep matematis siswa.
