This quasi experimental research aimed to know the effectiveness of socrates contextual learning in developing students mathematical critical thinking ability. The design of this research was one-group pretest-posttest. The population of this research was all students of grade seven of SMPN 19 Bandarlampung in academic year of 2014/2015. The sample of this reseacrh was students of VIIB class that was chosen by purposive sampling technique. The data of this research were obtained by test of mathematical critical thinking ability.
