EFEKTIVITAS PROBLEM BASED LEARNING TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN REPRESENTASI DAN SELF CONFIDENCE MATEMATIS SISWA

This research aimed to know the effectiveness of problem based learning model in terms of students representation ability, mathematical self confidence, and percentage of students who reach mastery learning. The population of this research was all students of grade 8th of SMPN 8 Bandar Lampung in academic year of 2014/2015 that was distributed into 12 classes. This research sample was determined by purposive sampling technique. This research used one group pretest posttest design. The result of data analysis showed that problem based learning model was effective in terms of students mathematical representation ability and mathematical self confidence, but it wasnt effective in terms of percentage of students who reached mastery learning.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas model problem based learning ditinjau dari kemampuan representasi, self confidence matematis siswa, dan presentase siswa tuntas belajar. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 8 Bandarlampung tahun pelajaran 2014/2015 yang terdistribusi dalam dua belas kelas. Sampel penelitian ini ditentukan dengan teknik purposive sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan one group pretest posttest design. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, disimpulkan bahwa model problem based learning efektif ditinjau dari kemampuan representasi dan self confidence matematis siswa, namun tidak efektif ditinjau dari presentase siswa tuntas belajar.Kata kunci: problem based learning, representasi, self confidenc
