This research aimed to know the effectiveness of problem based learning model in terms of students representation ability, mathematical self confidence, and percentage of students who reach mastery learning. The population of this research was all students of grade 8th of SMPN 8 Bandar Lampung in academic year of 2014/2015 that was distributed into 12 classes. This research sample was determined by purposive sampling technique. This research used one group pretest posttest design. The result of data analysis showed that problem based learning model was effective in terms of students mathematical representation ability and mathematical self confidence, but it wasnt effective in terms of percentage of students who reached mastery learning.Pen...
