PENERAPAN PEMBELAJARAN BERBASIS MASALAH UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN REPRESENTASI MATEMATIS DAN BELIEF SISWA

This research aimed to know the increasing of student’s mathematical representation skill and belief which was taught by problem based learning compared to the conventional learning. The design of this research was pretest posttest control group design. The population of this research was all students of grade 8thof SMPN 3 Pringsewu in academic year of 2013/2014 that was distributed into eight classes. The samples of this research were students of VIII3 and VIII4 class who were taken by purposive sampling technique. The research data were obtained by test of mathematical representation skill and belief scale. The conclusion of this research was the problem based learning could increase the student’s mathematical representation skill, but not increase the student’s belief.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis dan belief siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran berbasis masalah dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Desain penelitian ini adalah pretest posttest control group design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMPN 3 Pringsewu tahun pelajaran 2013/2014 yang terdistribusi dalam delapan kelas. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII3 dan VIII4 yang diambil dengan teknik purposive sampling. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui tes kemampuan representasi matematis dan skala belief. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah pembelajaran berbasis masalah dapat meningkatkan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa, namun tidak dapat meningkatkan belief siswa.Kata kunci: belief, kemampuan representasi matematis, pembelajaran berbasis masala
