This qualitative descriptive research aimed to determine the learning process and critical thinking skills using the socratic method with contextual approach. The subjects were students of X 6 class of senior high school state 15 Bandarlampung in academic year of 2012/2013 totally of 39 students. The data were obtained by observation, interviews, documentation, and test of learning outcomes. The data analysis was done by data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The results of the data analysis showed the learning process in the classroom was active and the average of value of the critical thinking skills of students was 66.28 which categorized in sufficient criteria.
