The name Chamaeiris Medik. is revived for taxa belonging to Iris subg. Xyridion (Tausch) Spach, subg. Gramniris Spach and subg. Spathula Spach. It has priority over Xyridion (Tausch) Fourr., a genus name that has been recently reinstated in a sense that matches Medikus’s original concept of Chamaeiris.
