Grotesco compasivo y carnaval en la narrativa de Luis Landero

Landero ́s characters live in a common world, aspire to the sublime and fall into the grotesque, revealed by the deformation, but not degradation, of their humanity; they never lose their dignity, however ridiculous the experiences they must face may be, because the author mixes all three ingredients (routine, sublimation and grotesque) in the same amount; because of their stubborn pursuit of their desires; because author, character and reader share the same inanity. Thus, Landero achieves a kind of grotesque which we shall denominate compassionate grotesque.Los personajes de Landero viven en lo cotidiano, aspiran a lo sublime y caen en lo grotesco, que se manifiesta por medio de la deformación, pero no de la degradación de su humanidad; nunca pierden la dignidad, por ridículas que sean las experiencias que afronten, porque el autor hermana estos tres ingredientes sin que ninguno pese más que los otros, porque los redime su obstinación por pelear persiguiendo su afán y porque autor, personaje y lector comulgan en la inanidad. Así se logra un esperpento sensible y carnavalesco al que llamamos grotesco compasivo
