Seismic study on Austral basin

This work consists of a geological study of the Austral basin, which emphasize the structural features of the basin , using a seismic study inside a section of the basin. To provide the understanding of the seismic techniques, the work includes theoretical fundamentais of the seismic method, starting from the theory associated to seismic signals, going until the final data processing, generating seismic sections. Despite the work purpose be to identify structures with explorations potential, the emphasis was to establish relations and identify the structures in subsurface, even when these structures don't generate a petroliferous system. All the seismic case study was based on the work from Alvarez-Marrón et ai. called "Geometry and evolution of the frontal part of the Magallanes Foreland Thrust and Fold Belt (Vicuría Area)".Este trabalho consiste de um estudo da geologia da bacia Austral, no qual destacam-se as características estruturais da mesma, através de um estudo sísmico em uma seção da bacia. Para permitir um entendimento das técnicas de sísmica, o trabalho inclui um fundamentamente teórico abrangente do método sísmico, partindo desde da teoria associada aos sinais sísmicos até o processamento final dos dados, dando origem as seções sísmicas. Apesar do objetivo do trabalho ser identificar estruturas com potencial de produção de hidrocarbonetos, sua enfase foi estabelecer relações e identificar as estruturas em subsuperfície, mesmo quando estas não formam um sistema petrolífero, permitindo um maior entendimento da região. Todo o estudo de caso foi baseado no trabalho de Alvarez-Marrón et ai. chamado "Geometry and evolution of the frontal part of the Magallanes Foreland Thrust and Fold Belt (Vicufía Area)"
