This dissertation describes a study on stress distribution around buried concrete structures under earth dams. The study consisted of a pseudo-tridimensional analysis, using a two-dimension finite element program, and taking advantage of the plane strain conditions through the dam and buried structure axis. Two structures were analysed, around which total pressure cells had been installed. The pseudo-tridimensional analysis results were compared with the values provided by the instrumentation.
