It is concluded that shell and body morphology characterize the species distinguishing it from Thaumastus (T.) taunaisii (Férussac, 1822).São apresentados os resultados sobre a morfologia das partes duras e moles, dados de distribuição geográfica e geológicas do gastrópode terrestre Thaumastus (Thaumastus) magnificus (Grateloup, 1839). Foram levantados dados que permitiram a caracterização e identificação da espécie, distinguindo-a de Thaumastus (Thaumastus) taunaisii (Férussac, 1822), espécie muitas vezes citada na literatura como sinonímia
