Analysis of the Healthcare Systems of Czech Republic and United States of America in 2007-2017

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the health systems of the Czech Republic and the United States with regard to the development of social and economic indicators between 2007–2017.The topic of this bachelor thesis is very topical from the economic point of view because of the increasing costs of healthcare. The lack of transparency of the management of health insurance companies raises further questions on the quality of Czech healthcare. For this reason, I see the advantage of comparing it to a completely different type of healthcare that is currently operating in the United States and is ranked among the leading health systems compared to other countries.The theoretical part defines the terms and economic theories needed to understand the issues of health policy. Furthermore, there is a literature review concerning healthcare, health systems and their financing.The practical part analyzes individual health systems, their important reforms, and selected social and economic indicators, which are then compared. The results show both pros and cons of both health systems, which is why it is not possible to clearly identify which is more economically advantageous. In the Czech healthcare sector we encounter the problem of an aging population and corruption related to health insurance companies. The US healthcare can be seen as high-quality, but financially demanding with lack of accessibility to the whole population.Cílem této bakalářské práce je analyzovat zdravotní systémy České republiky a Spojených států amerických s přihlédnutím na vývoj sociálních a ekonomických ukazatelů mezi lety 2007–2017. Téma bakalářské práce je z národohospodářského hlediska velmi aktuální z důvodu stále se zvyšujících nákladů na zdravotnictví. Neprůhlednost hospodaření zdravotních pojišťoven přináší další otázky na téma kvality českého zdravotnictví. Z tohoto důvodu vidím výhodu v komparaci se zcela odlišným typem zdravotnictví, které v současné chvíli funguje ve Spojených státech a řadí se na přední příčky zdravotních systémů v porovnání s ostatními zeměmi.V teoretické části jsou vymezeny pojmy a dotčené ekonomické teorie potřebné k pochopení problematiky politiky zdravotnictví. Dále je zde zpracována literární rešerše týkající se zdravotnictví, zdravotních systémů a jejich financování.Praktická část analyzuje jednotlivé zdravotní systémy, jejich důležité reformy a vybrané sociální a ekonomické ukazatele, které jsou následně porovnány. Z výsledků vyplývají klady i zápory pro oba zdravotní systémy, nedá se tedy jednoznačně určit, který je z národohospodářského hlediska výhodnější. U českého zdravotnictví se setkáváme s problémem stárnoucí populace a korupcí týkajících se zdravotních pojišťoven. Americké zdravotnictví se dá sice považovat za kvalitní, ale také za finančně náročné s problémem nedostatečné dostupnosti všem obyvatelům
